ABOUT ME!

Welcome to my blog! My name is Caroline. I am a 30 year old mom of two daughters. I have a beautiful daughter named Caia and another beautiful daughter named Emmi. I am a dog mom to a golden retriever named Hugs. I have a wonderful husband named Dalton. Before I was a mom, I was a middle school social studies teacher for four years. I decided to take some time off to raise my daughters. Now I serve on the board of Postpartum Support International WV Chapter as the Communications Chair. I also recently started a part time job at the West Virginia Perinatal Partnership as a project coordinator for the Maternal Mental Health and Substance Abuse Disorder project.

Like many moms, I had a hard adjustment to motherhood. I just attributed that to completely losing my identity and my career. However, looking back I know it was something more. I was diagnosed with Postpartum OCD when Caia was 8 months old. Before I realized I had Postpartum OCD, I spent hours researching my symptoms to try to figure out what I had. I also tried to find information from other moms to see if they experienced something similar.

From my research, I learned there wasn’t a whole lot of information from moms about this diagnosis. It would have helped me so much to hear stories from moms like me. I am hoping this blog can help bring awareness to Postpartum OCD and help other moms who are going through the same thing.

Remember you are not alone in this!! Postpartum OCD is a lot more common than people think. Too many people are afraid to share their symptoms like me. We should not be ashamed of our diagnosis. No one asks to have postpartum OCD.
